Kinky Curly Knot Today

Hi Ladies! As you can probably tell from the title above, I’m back with a product review on the Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave in/Detangler. Since the beginning of my journey, I’ve seen so many naturals speak nothing but good things about this product, especially since it’s multipurpose. I have to say it’s lived up to my expectations. I don’t know why I waited so long to get it. So let’s get into this!

$12.00 /8oz

What I Think About It:
I use this after a fresh wash or co wash. You can immediately feel how smooth your hair begins to feel. It has a light but creamy consistency. Normally I detangle using a wide tooth shower comb, but with this I’m able to finger comb if I wanted to. Did I mention that this product smells amazing? Nothing too heavy or lingers long. I wouldn’t use this if I was going to apply heat to my hair. I would most likely gravitate toward a leave in that’s in a liquid form. Since I usually wash and go to a style with out heat, this is perfect! My hair loves it and so does my new curly half wig. Remember this is a leave in conditioner/detangler. So I wouldn’t suggest using this alone or when your hair is dry. I still apply a moisturizer and sealant. I would recommend this product to any curly head!

Hope this was helpful 🙂

Maintaining Joanna!

Hi guys! Happy Monday! Today I’m coming to you about maintaining my wig, whom I’ve fondly named Joanna.

Let’s get one thing straight. I am a NEWBIE. I have never had a wig before, so I had no idea how to maintain it. Thankfully, my friend who installed it taught me how.

After wearing Joanna for two weeks, she started to look a little frizzy and fuzzy.

Something had to be done.

So here’s what we did to get it looking new again.
1: Wash and Detangle
Joanna was washed with a mild shampoo (Suave) and detangled with conditioner with LOTS of slip. We also detangled under the running faucet, which allowed the curls to look uniform again.
2: Braid
While Joanna was drying, my hair was being prepped for the installation. There was a tiny bit of hair left out on the sides, and a leave out on the side part. My anchor braids (for the combs) were put in first, and then everything else was cornrows. In the side part, she flat twisted the hair.

3: Install!
After braiding, Joanna was ready to be put in. I can’t even lie, I saw a big difference in J.

4: Blend
With Joanna still wet, my real hair was blended into the wig. The flat twists were undone and two strand twisted with small pieces of the hair. We put in some Curl Cream for product.
And we were donezo!

Joanna went from matted, tangled mess of curls to uniform, springy curls again! Loves it!

Half Wig: Protective Style

Out with the old and in with the new! At least for a little while 😉 Hey Everyone! It’s been a little while, but I’m stopping by today to review this amaazzzinggg Indian Curly Half Wig that I recently purchased. Summer is almost here and I want to have a protective style, without the commitment of a sewn in weave. I figured a half wig would be the best choice for right now. I’ve been eyeing this particular wig for quite some time now. I just had to wait until the funds were right! Lol.

First let me talk about where I ordered this unit from. This company is called Eloquent Hair, it specializes in designing high quality wigs. They use 100% Pure Cuticle, Virgin and Remy hair from around the world, such as Brazil, India, Mongolia, & China just to name a few. Before actually ordering the hair I had to contact customer service at least 5 times. I just had so many questions and each and every time they were extremely polite and helpful! That in itself made me feel much more comfortable buying the hair because they were so willing to answer my questions, and they knew what they were talking about!

About the Hair.

I bought my Indian Curly Half Wig in the color 1b, 18 inches, and with Normal Hair Density. As soon as I opened the package I instantly fell in love. The hair is incredibly soft and supple. You guys, I’m not even exaggerating. I’ve had a wavy synthetic wig in the past, and it had that artificial shine to it, but this looks so natural and healthy. The wig also lies really flat on my head which I love. I’m pretty sure it’s because of the 0.5 inches of lace in the front which allows you to blend your own hair effortlessly and lets the wig lay flat, just like it’s coming from your own scalp!

Features of The Wig

Healthy 100% Indian Remy hair

Curly hair texture- these curls feature a well defined loopy “S” pattern.

Adjustable straps in the back (you choose the best fit for your needs, no worrying about if the unit will fit your head properly.)

Large Durable Combs in the front, smaller comb in the back giving you a secure fit.

Wig Clips have been added to the temples for even more security.

Durable and strong machine wefted tracks in the back which keeps the hair from shedding.

The Shipping & Packaging

In total the hair takes about three and a half weeks to reach you. But it’s totally worth the wait. Trust me. The packaging is in a first class package nothing spectacular but it is insured, which I love because the amount of money you spend it best that way. At this point the only issue I’m having with the hair is frizzing on the ends. I’m sure once I wet it and apply some leave in conditioner it will bounce right back. The texture and quality of this hair is gorgeous. I’m pretty sure this wig is going to last me a long time, just as long as I care for it properly. If you’re looking for a half wig or u-part wigs I totally recommend Eloquent Hair. Check out their website or their facebook page!

Something New!!!

Happy Monday, guys! I’m starting the week with a little something new. It’s a change, but one that I L-O-V-E big time. Here’s a little background information on it first.
So my one year anniversary of going natural is next month, and clearly, Mandisa must do something in recognition of this joyous occasion, right? Right. So I tried to think of something to do. I was going to just go ahead and straighten it, but literally everyone straightens their hair for these things, and I didn’t want to be like everyone else. So after thinking and thinking, this is what I came up with.

I did something totally different, as you can see. I have never, ever had hair in my head that wasn’t mine. Ever. So this a big change, but one that I fully enjoy.
This is actually a wig, which I am loving. I didn’t want a weave because after a month, you just throw the hair out, but with a wig, you can easily put it on and take it off. Although there’s a little of my hair left out at the edges, the majority of my hair is braided up and protected underneath.
I also wanted something that looked very natural, which this does. If you were seeing me for the first time, you would believe that it’s my hair. My sister even thought it was!
It’s actually Wet and Wavy hair, so I can wet it and get the curls, or straighten it, which I don’t think I’ll do. I got my co-worker to make and install the wig for me, because she absolutely slays them!
I can work out in the wig and not worry about losing curl definition, it getting sweaty, etc.  Loves it!
As for maintenance, I just pineapple it at night with my bonnet. This is how it looked this morning.

This is my hair after work today, about seven hours later.

I LOVEEEEEE that it got bigger over time! #dianarossrealness!! Just think, in a couple years, this will all be coming from my scalp! Y’all, I’m loving this hair so much, I might never take it off! 🙂

Until next time,
Mandisa ❤
