We all know about shrinkage, either you love it or you hate it. I’m probably somewhere in between, but I’ve come to realize that it’s just one of those things about natural hair that I had to learn how to embrace. Let’s be honest if you’re wearing your hair in its natural state, shrinkage isn’t something you can avoid completely. Thankfully, I found two methods to stretch my hair if I want to keep heat at a minimum! What I love most about our kinks and curls is that we have so much versatility and with versatility comes options!
Start by diving your hair into sections, gently tie ouchless hair elastics down the length of your hair. Make sure the hair bands don’t any metal on them because those have a tendency to rip hair out. I like using this method on freshly washed first day hair. That’s when I have the most shrinkage.
Divide your hair into four workable sections, depending on how thick your hair it you may want to do more. Braid each section and pin the braid in the opposite direction for more stretch. This will also reduce tangling!
I hope this was helpful.

Until next time,
It’s that point in the summer season where it’s just too hot for me to be bothered with my hair. This is where my trusty protective styles come into to play. This time I chose Marley Twists.
If you’re also looking for a style with Minimal Maintenance and hot summer heat friendly, I would definitely recommend twists of some sort, or even faux locs! Here are 6 different ways to style your hair so that its up and out the way!
Look 1. Minnie Mouse Buns
This one is perfect for when your feeling fun
and it puts a new touch on an ordinary single bun
Look 2. Milkmaid Braids
Can we take a moment and appreciate how
layed my edges are. Ok. Carry on! Lol
Look 3. Simple Flat Twist
This one is perfect for when you don’t have a lot of time,
but still looks like you put in some effort. Just put your
hair to the side and twist away! So simple!
Look 4. Twisted Pony
Simple yet chic at the same time.
Look 5. Half Up Half Down Knot
The one has a little edge too it.
Look 6. Pinless Top Knot
You can’t have a hair lookbook without doing a top knot.
This one is my go to when the heat is too much to bare,
my hair is up and out of the way!
Yes, I love to switch up my styles every now and again, so I doubt that I’ll be keeping this in any longer than two weeks. Rest assure that’s more than enough time in my book! Lol

Hey Everyone, A couple weeks ago I made an attempt to flat iron my hair. Although the results weren’t horrible, my hair just didn’t turn out as I anticipated. Still yet I decided to upload what I did on Youtube, just so that someone could learn from my mistakes, and I can also look back and see what I did wrong.
Before flat ironing my hair I applied one of my favorite moisturizers by Shea Moisture. It’s the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Styling Lotion. It even suggests that it’s perfect for protecting hair during heat styling. Maybe I used too much… Although I normally love this moisturizer when I blow out my hair, I think it’s too heavy to use when I’m straightening it. Otherwise I have no complaints about this product.
Next time around I plan to use something much lighter, like a leave in conditioner of some sort.
Also, when I shampoo my hair I only lather it up once. I find that shampooing my hair twice only strips my hair of its natural oils, and it much harder to detangle, but I figured that if I plan to flat iron again, I should shampoo 2x that way my hair if thoroughly clarified and has a fresh clean start.
I’ve been natural going on 4 years and I’m still learning new things about my hair. It’s all about trial and error. Like they always say practice makes perfect. Be sure to check out my video and leave any tips or suggestions that you may have that would help me out the next time around!
Happy Sunday Everyone.
Some of you readers have been here since the very beginning of my journey. I don’t think I’ve done an official length check of the course of these 3 plus years, so here it is! I recently did a much needed trim. Like I’ve always said, health over length right? I’m all about length retention lately, so if you have any tips, be sure to let me know! In the meantime here’s length check

If you know anything about me, you probably already know that wash day has never been something I look forward too, and something tells me I’m not the only one! Thankfully, pre-pooing has been making wash day a lot easier for me and a lot more tolerable. Some might think taking the extra step to pre-poo is unnecessary, but I’ve noticed when I don’t do it, I spend more time trying to detangle my hair. I also experience more shedding as well. I would definitely recommended giving it a try. Be sure to share my video. Or like, comment, & s u b s c r i b e.
Lately I’ve been in protective style mode because I want to retain as much length as possible, but mostly because I’ve just been to lazy to style my hair! So I decided to make a video on this easy half up half down look that I’ve been doing as of late. This is the same half wig I posted about a couple years ago! If you’re looking for a protective style or just want to know how to blend your natural hair with a curly half wig, then this is perfect for you….especially if you’re transitioning! Let me know what you think! I’d love to hear your feedback. Don’t forget to share, like, comment, and/or Subscribe!
